This soft, delicate bunch of delights were all grown in my garden. All from bulbs and seeds.
For many years I had longed to have flowers that I had grown myself and then added into one of my arrangements and this image you see here is my very first one that has all the flowers that I have grown from my greenhouse.
This one has very special meaning to me as it was also the first creation I had done since the passing of my Dad back in June 2025.
Many months of grieving, dark, heavy days of nothing but your thoughts. Nothing gave me joy.
One late morning in the summer, I was sat outside in my garden, drinking a coffee, just me and my thoughts and the sound of the birds chirping away.
I looked towards the bottom of my garden where all my flowers were growing that I had transferred from the greenhouse into a little patch of earth.
The summer light was streaming through the trees and it was catching the petals so gently, making the flowers even more beautiful than before.
It was in that moment I felt my dad with me, by my side. He too loved being in the garden, growing his own vegetables and flowers. Always pottering in his greenhouse. I just sat there, looking at all the flowers that I had grown myself and realised that this is what I set out to do, to grow my own flowers so that I could add them into my own arrangements. I was looking right at them and I felt a moment of accomplishment and knew I had to document it and to tell that story. It’s what my Dad would have wanted.
